Monday 1st March – a brand new month!
Morning Check in on Seesaw – this will be going live at 9 a.m., but don’t panic, you have all day to respond. Don’t forget pack pick up today is from 9:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. and we would like you to wear a mask when doing so.
Phonics – Our sound of the week is ‘u’ and your variations are u/ou/o/oo. Monday’s phonics task will be your sound sort and these are your spellings for the week. Maybe while you’re waiting for your pack, you could play 10 minutes of Nessy?
Tables – Your tables this week are based on your calendar facts. Check out the information page in your pack and today I’d like you to learn the order of the months of the year and how many days are in each month.
You also have a Mindfulness March calendar in your pack to encourage you to take some time during March for yourself.
Literacy – Homophones
This week, we’re going to look at homophones/homonyms. These are words which sound exactly the same when you say them, but they are spelt differently and have very different meanings.
I’m sure if you had a little think for 1 minute, you could list lots of different homophones on a page. Watch the video below to learn more about homophones and open the PPT to learn further too. You may also like to play the following games before trying your work for today.
Red, Blue, Green & Yellow Groups – I’d like you to write out your sentences into your workbook.
Purple – You have a cut & stick activity or you can choose to write them instead.
Extension – Wordsearch

Numeracy – Dividing Facts (2,3,4,5 and 10)
All of this week, we’re going to spend time learning our dividing facts for quick and accurate recall. I know lots of you know these inside out, upside down and back to front, but it’s so important to keep practising them for accuracy and speed.
Perhaps you could spend some time playing the following games or check out Studyladder for a dividing POD or play hit the button and focus on dividing by 2,3,4,5 and 10.
P.E. – Alphabetix
As I am on the rota every Monday, I am moving your P.E. session to a Monday afternoon for this week again. This should also ease your written work a little on a Monday when you are only collecting your pack in the morning.
For this Half-term, we’re going to be thinking about Alphabetix. You had a poster in last week’s pack which you need to keep somewhere safe, as you’re going to need it for the next 5 weeks. J
Alphabetix is an active programme designed by Activity Northern Ireland where each letter of the alphabet is represented by an action/activity. For today I’d like you to watch the two videos below and try to focus on the two words: FRIENDS and SMILE! We’re all missing time with our friends so much, but maybe as you do the two words today, you’ll think about your FRIENDS and how much they make your SMILE!
Your extra challenges today: Can you spell your best friends name in exercises and something that makes you smile.
Have fun and feel free to send me photos/videos on SEESAW!
Well done for completing Monday’s activities. Rest up for another day of fun activities tomorrow and maybe do some reading if you can to finish your afternoon! J
